Today is my last week in the office and overall the internship was good and I have gained much experience from working in the office. This weeks objective is to just finish strong and complete all the remaining tasks. Also, I will begin my 8 page single spaced paper and give an overall input of what it was like to work as a football operations intern.

It has been a long internship over the summer as I worked from May to August but I have learned much over the summer. Even living in the town of Tiffin has prepared me how to live on my own and with manage my time with everything. I was happy with the results from the internship and maybe I will participate in another one next summer and even add that to my resume. It is just another tool that can be used when trying to get that job in the future when they are reviewing my resume and they see all the experience and jobs that I have been involved in.

We have a long season ahead of us that I am prepared for and as I see things around the football office such as playbooks, schedules, and emails I remember that I was apart of making that over the summer. As a group we had completed a lot of work that needed to be complete by using team work and putting in the time and effort.

Office work is not the only job that do in this internship, some coaches may be busy with work so it is our job to run errands if they need it. Sometimes we have to pick up checks, turn in keys, bring in inventory, or even go pick up the coaches mail. Whenever there is a assignment to be completed, there is another assignment to do, or the coaches will have little jobs for us to complete.

Throughout this internship I have really gained much experience with how it is to work in a office. I learned all types of different things that go on in the office, how to do multiple jobs and how this prepares me for the real world. Whether it is typing up reports, making phone calls, or even improving my communication skills by the day this is all giving me the experience that I need.

I've been told that the more experience and the more skills that you have will only help you in the long run. For example, if I'm applying for a job that involves working in the office I will already have experience from this internship and I can explain to them how I'm prepared to step into the job because of my previous experience.

The more that I continue to learn and the more experience I get can be applied to my resume when I am trying to get that job in the future. Having more experience or more skills then the next person applying for a job will give me the upper hand because of what I did and what I can do.

I realize the importance of the classes that I take for my major (sports management) every class that I take increases my skills and prepares me for the real world. For the past week, I have been making phone calls to players to give them reminders of what they need completed before camp. The communication class that I took my freshmen year really prepared me for jobs such as this.

Having a communication class taught me how to speak in front of a crowd, speak clearly, and keep the focus of the crowd. I would call players to give them reminders of they needed to complete before coming into camp so it's not an issue when they get here. Some of the calls had to deal with physicals, paper work, or even a financial-aid problem.

Every week the other interns and I would call every player from about 10:30am to 3pm to let them know what they needed to complete. With the phone calls, we also sent emails as reminders to remind them what they have to do and exactly how to take care of their issue. It's important to speak clearly and communicate with them over the phone and keep the updated with everything.

Working behind a computer screen is not the only duty when working for a football team. Sometimes we take care of the inventory that comes in for the upcoming camps and the season. I used to wonder who kept the locker-room in order, who brought in the new equipment, who organized everything in the locker-room. It is just another job for the coaches to keep these things in order.

I helped with the inventory and all the new equipment that comes in and I would have never known how much work it is to take care of it. We got a new stock of helmets, socks, bags, shoes, warm ups, workout outfits, and even new shoulder pads. It was our job to record how much we receive, organize all of the new equipment and prepare the locker-room for camp. Taking care of a large locker-room full of a football team can be a tough job. Every player needs a solid helmet, good shoulder pads, pants, pads, and mouthpieces. This would occur time to time as a coach and we interns would pick up the inventory from the mail room and transfer it down to the football locker room.

Even with working in the football office, I still have the opportunity to participate in volunteering activities such as the football camp that we held at Paradiso field for the youth. Coaching the kids was fun and it prepares me for the future and also gives me some experience with coaching.

I even volunteered to referee some basketball games at the new Heminger Center, which was also fun and I gained experience from. I hope to continue with volunteering with coaching and being around different sports because it will only help me with finding my sports career. I feel that coaching is a stepping stone to become a role model and a leader which can help me in my future with taking charge and leading by example.

The new Heminger Center was a great contribution to Tiffin University, there are many activities that you can do inside of it. There is a 50 yard football field with turf inside of it where football practices are held and where softball, soccer and different organizations hold there meetings. A large track area and four large basketball courts that can be used for other organizations as well such as having dodge ball tournaments and volleyball. The Heminger Center was a big addition to the Tiffin University campus.
